About: Pastor Mandy Barkhaus

Pastor Mandy Barkhaus is honored to serve as the lead pastor at Horizons Community Church, where she has been leading since July 1, 2022. With a deep passion for helping people grow in their faith, she brings years of experience in ministry and leadership.

Before stepping into church ministry, Pastor Mandy worked in the nonprofit sector, using her degree in Human and Social Services Administration to serve others. She later felt God’s call to full-time church ministry, where she has spent over 15 years in various leadership roles, including hospitality director, youth director, and executive pastor. She completed the United Methodist Course of Study in 2020, earned her Master’s from Saint Paul School of Theology,  and was commissioned as a provisional elder in June 2022 and an ordained elder in June 2024. 

Pastor Mandy’s ministry reflects The Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:1-9). She knows that faith can take root in different ways and that spiritual growth is a lifelong journey. She embraces both the challenges and joys of ministry, trusting God’s work in every step.

She is supported by her husband, Tom, and their sons, Jax and Lex. Now as empty nesters, Mandy and Tom enjoy hiking, biking, going on adventures, working out, and playing board games. Mandy continues to lead Horizons with a passion for discipleship, community, and spiritual growth, guiding the church to live out its mission in meaningful ways.
