Jesus’ power helps us do hard things.
For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
Horizons is excited to host our VBS program in-person again this summer! We understand how valuable it is in developing the faith of kids and realize that now, more than ever, kids are craving connection with God and community. We plan to host VBS with the most updated health and safety measures in place.
As guidelines evolve, we will continue to work closely with our medical advisory team and local authorities to make the necessary adjustments.
2021 here are a few key protocols that will be in place for VBS 2021:
Some of our program adjustments include more outdoor time for sun and space! We will be spending most of our time outside. We have established stringent sanitizing protocols throughout Horizons – from restrooms and surfaces to supplies and equipment.
We are making adjustments to programs and group activities to protect the health and safety of our kids and volunteers in line with the latest local guidance – in some cases, this may involve keeping kids in their smaller crew groups and requiring facemasks.
We have a set capacity for VBS this year, so register early to ensure that you get a spot.
Our VBS Volunteers and leadership teams have developed detailed protocols over the years. Our team is ready to partner with kids and parents in ensuring everything from consistent hand hygiene to health monitoring.
We ask that each family go through our self-screening guide each night before attending. We may also take kids’ temperatures throughout the night as needed. Any adult over the age of 16 is encouraged to get the vaccine if possible.
In the event that a student does get ill, our team has a plan in place for immediate action. This would include separation from their group and communication with parents.
At this time, we do not know what stage the vaccine roll-out will be for the summer of 2021 or how close we’ll be to “herd immunity” in our area. We are highly encouraging each VBS Volunteer to get vaccinated if at all possible at least two weeks before attending VBS. At a minimum, we are highly encouraging any vulnerable person in kids’ household (elderly, immunocompromised etc.) to get the Covid-19 vaccine as soon as possible.
We look forward to providing kids a time of fun, faith, and friendship this summer.
No walk-in kids or volunteers at VBS 2021. Must be pre-registered!
